There comes a ship loaded to its highest board ... Admittedly, the traditional verse may seem somewhat paradoxical at first glance, as the little brown rowing boat is by no means carrying the Christ Child. Nevertheless, we think it fits like a glove, as the wobbly vessel, loaded to the brim and almost ready to capsize, definitely fuels the anticipation of Christmas.
The reason: wonderfully dressed in festive red (with a lush, white glittered fur edge, of course!), a cheerful, smiling Santa Claus sits enthroned on the little barque. Ignoring the black straps to the right and left of the ship's side, he devotes his full attention to the bulging gift bag, which he holds with his black-gloved fists and which has been given a wonderfully maritime look with a carefully glued-on, gold-colored net.
