Carp is a welcome guest at Christmas. In blue, it is served with many a festive meal - as a delicious and, above all, substantial fish dish. But it also looks particularly pretty in the Christmas tree - as a Christmas tree decoration, like this magnificent specimen, for which the artist who painted it really drew on the full range of possibilities.
The stately animal, which hangs in an upward motion from its golden crown, shines and shimmers in three colors. The belly, head and tail fin shimmer in golden orange. The mouth, sides and upper edge of the dorsal fin are a shimmering pink. The back is colored green. And that's not all: black spots of different sizes and transparent glitter make the scales really sparkle. Black contours also highlight the mouth and gills.
