Christmas bauble:  Saint Bernard

He is not exactly a fashionable dog - the majestic St. Bernard, who can muster quite a bit of strength due to his enormous size. At once loyal and calm, the breed was originally used to rescue people buried in the Alps. However, the breed's long coat and massive build soon stood in the way of this use. The St. Bernard is therefore no longer a working dog.

But it is a symbol of Switzerland - and a particularly pretty one, as this Christmas bauble clearly shows. The upright, glassy-eyed dog looks to the side with a loyal gaze, his pink tongue sticking out of his slobbery mouth. A golden barrel dangles from his black collar. Brown and white, slightly fluffy pied, the matt, dense coat shines. The space between the legs has been painted pale green, giving the figure the appearance of standing in a meadow.
