Christmas bauble:  Sturgeon

Fish on the Christmas tree have been a tradition for decades. And no wonder. After all, the fish is a Christian symbol. The early models simply hung vertically from their little crown. Just like this sturgeon, which is not at all classic, but almost naturalistic.

The glass specimen in silver to anthracite-colored lacquer dangles from its golden crown as if in the flesh. The long body looks sleek and impresses with its strikingly drawn, shiny fins, especially the characteristic dorsal fin that is set far back. Also extremely artificial: the scales are designed in various shades of brown and black.
