Sushi in a special form: The Asian rice appetisers are usually known as filled maki rolls cut into pieces. Or as filled rice blocks like nigiris. Temaki is perhaps a little rarer in this country, but no less delicious or decorative - and therefore wonderfully suitable for hanging in the Christmas tree with a gourmet wink. A favourite for real sushi fans, so to speak.
Handmade means temaki, as it is simply twisted in the seaweed without any aids (such as the bamboo mats usually used in sushi kitchens) to form a small bag from which the delicacies peek out in a pretty drape. In the glass version, the seaweed wrapper shimmers in a matt dark green colour, which contrasts beautifully with the glossy orange of the masago balls. Light green, matt vegetable arches bear witness to an avocado filling, while matt white rice forms the classic base behind it.
