Thistles don't usually evoke such positive associations in the first instance. As wild growth in the flowerbed or field, they are often a painful hindrance. However, if you take a closer look at these prickly plants, you will discover true works of art by nature.
The thick, beautifully purple-flowering thistle in particular is so artificial that it not only enchants botanists, but also deserves a place of honour in the Christmas tree. Small and delicate, almost dainty, the thoroughly green-coloured, matt shimmering plant appears. It has two flowers, one a little taller than the other and surrounded by a tendril of leaves dusted with green and gold glitter. A special highlight: the delicate lilac-coloured blossoms have been covered with transparent glitter sprinkles as if sprinkled with morning dew.
