Strictly speaking, its spots are more reminiscent of a cheetah. Nevertheless, the Cypraea tigris is known worldwide as the tiger mussel, even though it is actually a snail. No matter. It looks impressive in the flesh, beautiful as if made of porcelain instead of limestone with the dark brown speckles on a brownish-white background.
This mouth-blown version for the Christmas tree is also particularly successful and looks like it has come straight out of the Pacific in terms of both appearance and size: The partly blotted, partly sprayed dots on the back are artistic. Light ripples on the inside also testify to the accurate shaping of the design.
